Preliminary Exercise 4: Analyzing Setting for National Lampoon's European Vacation. Week 10/10-10/14
Setting in film is the time and place where the story is told. Setting incorporates time period, location, climate and overall attitude. The motive of setting is creating a mood or specifying the time or place in a film. Key characteristics of film is art: the overall look of a film that's determined by the director. Entertainment: being provided/providing with amusement or pleasure. Lastly, body language: the way an actor is controlling their bodies through gestures, posture and body contact. Lastly, setting is important to mise en scene because it's easily spotted out and recognizable for what the director is implying.
Second Paragraph
The objective of this assignment was to analyze the elements of setting, acting, costumes, hair and makeup. The media product we created was a PowerPoint. First, we analyzed a part of film. Then, we had to find a movie from 2019, and define 10 elements of setting. Lastly, add images from the movie we selected. I work with 2 other classmates. Therefore, in this image we defined these terms, the elements of setting.
Reflection Paragraph
Doing this assignment i learned, elements of setting. Also, how setting is incorporated in film. Such as, setting sets a mood or it can specify the time or place. Lastly, this is significant because it's easily spotted and recognized for what the director is trying to imply. This lesson was very helpful.
