Lighting in film introduces direction, quality, source, or the color of light. These contrasting elements collaborate cooperatively. These produces a atmosphere and directs our attention. Lighting is significant because it shows the viewers where to look. Also, it supports the overall genre of the film and sets the mood/ tone. 6 Examples of natural lighting- this sets the time of day. Low key lighting- this is creates shadows and dark tones. Backlighting- divides an object or actor from a background. Hard lighting- brings attentiveness to anyplace in the frame, mainly the subject. Soft lighting- Omits shadows. Bounce lighting- Focuses a subject without directly gleaming on them.
