Editing in film: Week 1/30- 2/03

Wes Anderson Walt Disney  Introduction Paragraph  Camerawork introduces how a camera is managed, positioned and moved for restricted effects. It's significant to filming a movie because it helps you to communicate with your audience and supports the overall tone of a film. Cinematography is the technique of making motion pictures and filming a story, visually with a camera and light. The cinematographer is responsible for this task. Adding on, award- winning people in film is Walt Disney and Wes Anderson. Walt Disney made plenty of incredible movies, but he's mostly known for the Tramp and Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. In Addition, Wes Anderson is known for " The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Moonrise Kingdom. Second Paragraph  The key concepts I was introduced to was, Shot sizes and Camera Angles. Preliminary Exercise: Lighting Week 1/23-1/27

                       Lighting Lighting in film introduces direction, quality, source, or the color of light. These contrasting elements collaborate cooperatively. These produces a atmosphere and directs our attention. Lighting is significant because it shows the viewers where to look. Also, it supports the overall genre of the film and sets the mood/ tone. 6 Examples of natural lighting- this sets the time of day. Low key lighting- this is creates shadows and dark tones. Backlighting- divides an object or actor from a background. Hard lighting- brings attentiveness to anyplace in the frame, mainly the subject. Soft lighting- Omits shadows. Bounce lighting- Focuses a subject without directly gleaming on them.

Preliminary Exercise: Camera Movement Video Week 1/16-1/20

Tilt Shot-   When the camera is moved up to down or down to up. Mystery girl picks up Janie folder off of the floor. In this clip, the girl drops her folder, and a mystery character picks it up. This technique was used to create a sense of suspense. Zoom out shot- Adjusting the lens so the image seems smaller and further away. Jane is very attentive, trying to finish her Algebra homework. Using this technique allowed the viewers to look more closely at the background. Tracking Shot- Any shot th at physically moves the camera through the scene for a period of time. The 2 girls are walking trying to find their next class. This technique allowed the audience to see them walking through the hallwa y. Pull out shot-  The camera moving away from subject. Fiona is lost in her thoughts during lunch. Fiona is thinking to herself, using the pull-out shot gives a view on what's going on. Static Shot-  A devoid of camera movement. The kids are walking, trying to get to class on time....

Preliminary Exercise Camera: Movement Video Storyboard Week 1/16-1/20

  Introduction  Paragraph The assignment was that me and my team created a storyboard where, we created an action line, tone and drew a picture for 9 camera movement elements. The objective of this assignment was understanding the conception of camera movement, creating a storyboard and coming together as a team. Adding on, how the storyboard was used to plan out things. During this assignment, I worked with a group of 3. Suzie was writing on the paper, Shea was drawing the pictures and I researched and also, wrote key details for each camera movement element.  Reflection Paragraph The camera technique that was the easiest for me was a Zoom in shot.   Camera Movement In this assignment we defined the elements of Camera movement. For Instance, static. This shot is a devoid of camera movement. We also made a table and listed 3 key elements. For a static shot, the 3 key elements are that it's filled with movements. Such as, vehicles, characters, weather, props etc.  Camera movement is a filmmaking technique that describes how a camera moves to strengthen a story. Examples of camera movement is pan, tilt, push in and push out. This is useful because it can help change the audience perspective without trimming. In addition, it's a creative way to engage the audience and grab the audience attention. The director of photography is responsible for camera movement. Two famous film industry people Walt Disney and Jordan Peele. Jordan Peele made Us, Get out and Nope. Walt Disney made the Parent trap, Sleeping beauty and Cinderella.
